Gatsby's Creator and Mentor

When James Gatz was about 17 years old he came across a wealthy man known as Dan Cody. With his young experimental nerves, Gatz decides to take a row boat out to Cody's yacht to meet him.

Sooner than later Gatz found himself being controlled by Dan Cody, which also got him into the money making business. Dan Cody hired Gatz as his steward, mate, skipper, secretary and even jailer. With this Gatz was influenced in many ways and helped him out in the later years. One day Cody inhospitably died on his yacht and left James to own his businesses. With this I see Dan Cody to be a helping hand for young James Gatz.

"She doesn't Even Know Me "

Unrequited is a love that  isn't openly expressed and understood, like when you love someone and they have no idea you love them or in many cases they don't even know you. This tends to occur much in life whether its that girl from the cheer team or that hunk from the golf club. Gatsby show a unrequited love between Daisy and Gatsby.

Gatsby is really turned his life into a journey to win Daisy back but she can't for reasons such as her love for Tom and moral values. I also see that between Myrtle and her husband he desperately longs to reconnect with Myrtle but she blows him of for Tom, this is sad to see because they are married and a wife should really honor her husband as well as the husband treating his women like a Queen.

Unrequited love should not occur I think if two love each other and the realize that then they should be together and enjoy what creation has to offer.

Film or Book? ..... Which Do Your Prefer?

With all these different versions of The Great Gatsby in film, it is getting to be a little confusing to keep up with the story. With the new version starring Toby Stephens as Jay Gatsby, it does not quite match up with the original version or the most abundant in 1974(IMBD.com)

There are also some pros with the different film versions of this interesting novel. It shows and gives you different perspectives of people's interpretations of Scott's writings. Without the problem of the two stories ( film & book ) not matching up with information, they are quite realistic.

In my personal opinion I am more entertained by the film versions, for the fact that you can visualize better what is going on with the different people. Many may differ my opinion and say that can read the novel over and over again, just with the simple fact that F. Scott Fitzgerald writings are very lively.

Men With Intent

We men see thing whether its a object or a person, we go after it and strive for it. The men of Gatsby have a similar approach to their lives as we've read you can see how personalities effect the outcome of situations. Intentions in great Gatsby are mostly not so good, the only guy with good intentions is Nick. Nick is a moral all around good guy and has a nice life.

Gatsby has pretty good intentions but the outcome isn't always like you expect. He meets Daisy years back and never seems to forget about her. He strives to be wealthy and becomes that to gain Daisy back and Gatsby also moves close to her to keep an eye on her. He sort of uses Nick to get to Daisy, this intention is wrong cause I believe they should been friend because they wanted to.

Tom as well his intentions to be happy lead to him having an affair. He cheats on Daisy with Myrtle. This ends bad she get killed by Daisy and that's that. The men of Great Gatsby all have a bit different view on situations and the a big Difference

This Is Tom Strong Guy.

Self-Loving Women of the Eggs

In The Great Gatsby there are many instances that show us the conceit of many women in West & East Egg. The biggest example we can provide, is Daisy she thinks that everything and everyone orbit around here world. Many women in these cities also act or work in the way Daisy does.

The believe that everyone has to love them, and the go to drastic measures for people to realize that they are there. We think this is the exactly reason Daisy is the way she is, as most people will say "annoying".

In our opinion this is the main reason most men of theses cities are caught committing adultery with other women, that aren't as conceited as their wives.

Unequally Yolked Cities

Well in Great Gatsby we have constant comparison between East egg and West egg, we notice that East Egg is the city with aristocratic wealth were Daisy and Tom reside. West Egg is for the newly rich were Gatsby and Nick live.  West egg is looked down on by the East Egg citizens because they share a different taste in areas of their lives.

Fitzgerald portrays West Egg people as gaudy, and lacking in the social graces. West Egg is the opposite and is portrayed as a place of great taste and elegance. This is a lot like society today we look at the negative areas not necessarily income, even though that comes into play, but we look at attitudes social status and look.

We see this throughout the novel and realize the conflict and it seems to be no different from today. I think its about keeping yourself humble so you don't look like a snotty East Egg er and simply separate yourself from the rest of society. I hope that we can look at each other in Love and not in worldly things.

Selfish Ambition

Selfishness has been around forever and these are things we cant seem to just figure out its basically our human nature. Selfishness has to have played a huge roll in the 1920's,from the rich, the mobs, and the business organizations. We see the 1920's as a great time in history but it has its own selfish inlet.

The Great Gatsby is rooted selfishness and greed, from the money that Gatsby attains to Tom leaving using women to get what he wants. Characters are used through selfish ambition and greed to get to certain people for their own happiness. Selfish people don't understand the consequences of their actions.

I leave u with some pictures of some selfish people of the 1920's and of today. Greed is the underlying theme of this book along with selfishness. The 1920's overall was a time of social change and so on.
