Did Prohibition Really Work?

Well we noticed that Gatsby takes place around the same time the prohibition was instituted and noticed that Tom was drinking alcohol in chapter one. He seems to be a jerk and probably goes to speakeasies to relieve his anger/rude behavior. He's also cheating on his wife, he's an all around idiot.

The 1920's was a time when culture change impacted almost all. America was just recently out of the war and these young men and women were looking for things to do to change their normal lives. The war made it possible for the people to attain jobs and save money so that after the war people were loaded with money. People just started buying things and then getting into debt.

This sounds just like today, our cultures moral values are non-existent and were are daring to question
our values. Great Gatsby is all about the culture change and how prohibition changed the way our country runs, introducing us to organized gang crime. Prohibition has affected the U.S. in ways the entertainment business has affected the youth of America.

  1. Good start, but you used one of my images from my blog. You also need to cite your sources as to where you got your prohibition information from. Make sure to work on your theme and extras for the next post. 70/75
